Strong numerically, the performance is unspectacular in context. Both the adults 18-49 rating and total viewership number markedly trail those posted by the show’s “The Big Bang Theory” lead-in.<\/p>\n
The ninth “TBBT” season premiere drew a 4.7 rating with 18.203 million viewers.<\/p>\n
CBS’ lineup also included “Scorpion” (2.2, 11.087 million) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (1.2, 7.971 million).

If judged purely by its numbers, CBS’ “Life in Pieces” premiere looks successful. It posted a solid 2.7 adults 18-49 rating with 11.52 million total viewers.<\/p>\n
Context, however, makes the performance look a lot less impressive.<\/p>\n
CBS led into the new comedy with its flagship “The Big Bang Theory.” That broadcast provided lead-in support in the form of a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating with 17.78 million viewers.<\/p>\n
Such a drop – especially for a show that should have established its own curiosity lure – is very concerning.<\/p>\n
