Echoing what was stated at last week’s programmer summit, iHeartRadio has officially confirmed Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself” as its new “On the Verge” song.<\/p>\n
The push, which includes branding support across iHeart’s digital networks and guaranteed airplay from iHeartMedia’s pop stations, commences in conjunction with this week’s official radio impact.<\/p>\n
“Love Myself” is the pop format’s first “On the Verge” song since the push for Nate Ruess’ “Nothing Without Love” began in late March.<\/p>\n
“Nothing Without Love” was the program’s least successful pop entry; it failed to reach the format’s Top 25.<\/p>\n
iHeart and label Republic are certainly hoping for a stronger reception to “Love Myself,” which represents the Oscar-nominated actress’ debut single.<\/p>\n
“I wanted everything to happen exactly the way it\u2019s happening now,” says Steinfeld of her transition into music. “After ‘True Grit,’ I was looking and waiting for a role in which I could segue into making music.<\/p>\n
“When ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ came along, it was the perfect opportunity to begin that transition. Part of the role involved being in the studio, recording, and performing. That\u2019s when I realized, ‘I have to do this!'”<\/p>\n
Steinfeld also touts the honesty of the music world. When acting, she is playing a character. When singing, she is communicating her own truth.<\/p>\n
“I feel like everybody will finally get to know me through this music,” says Steinfeld. “The experience of opening myself up has been awesome.”<\/p>\n
Being promoted by Republic, “Love Myself” carries an official pop radio impact date of August 11. It is scheduled to go for hot adult contemporary adds on August 31.<\/p>\n
Republic has a strong track record with pop “On the Verge” selections; it hit #1 with Tove Lo’s “Habits” and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous.”<\/p>\n
