Going into the July 31 tracking week, “If You’re Reading This” boasted a sales total of approximately 998,000. Early returns indicate it moved between 5-8,000 — and definitely more than 2,000 — during that seven-day tracking frame. As a result, its cume now exceeds 1 million.<\/p>\n
Released as a Valentine’s weekend surprise in February, “If You’re Reading This” was officially billed as a mixtape but positioned similarly to a commercial studio album (albeit without a conventional promotional blitz). Despite emerging with only three days remaining in the tracking period, its opening “week” sales total of 495,000 remains the greatest for an album released in 2015.<\/p>\n
“If You’re Reading This” is the second album–and first 2015 release–to sell 1 million year-to-date copies.
