If weekend estimates hold up, those associated with “Jurassic World” will have two causes for celebration this weekend:<\/p>\n

— Their film will remain the #1 movie in America.<\/p>\n

— Their film’s cumulative US gross now exceed $500 million.<\/p>\n

Thanks once again to a strong late-weekend performance, “Jurassic World” overtook “Inside Out” to claim #1 at the box office. Estimates say the film, which placed second on Friday, ended the weekend with $54.2 million in receipts. “Inside Out” scored $52.1 million.<\/p>\n

The estimated weekend gross brings the cumulative “Jurassic World” tally to $500.1 million. In hitting that mark after three weekends of release, “Jurassic World” becomes the fastest film to ever cross the $500 million threshold.<\/p>\n

Originally expected to contend for #1, new release “Ted 2” was a disappointing #3 this weekend. The film earned only $33.0 million in its inaugural weekend.<\/p>\n

The 2012 predecessor picked up $54.4 million.<\/p>\n
