As of press time at 1PM ET, the “Idol” contestant’s take on The Weeknd’s smash was up to #66 on the all-genre iTunes sales chart. Not simply successful in a vacuum, the song’s iTunes performance bests that of an “Earned It” cover recorded by one of this season’s “The Voice” contestants.<\/p>\n
Rob Taylor’s version, which reached a greater number of viewers and actually counted for votes, failed to enter the Top 100 on iTunes upon arrival last month.<\/p>\n
Not simply successful in that “Idol” vs. “Voice” battle, Beckham’s single is also the highest-charting of this week’s four “Idol” recordings.<\/p>\n
The next-highest release is Nick Fradiani’s “Because the Night.” Widely separated from the Beckham track, it was #240 when this story went to print.<\/p>\n
