Update:<\/b> Final broadcast data confirms that Wednesday’s “American Idol” was the lowest-rated and least-watched installment ever. It drew a series low 1.4 adults 18-49 rating with 6.58 million viewers.<\/em><\/p>\n

An episode of FOX’s “Idol” had never before gone below a 1.5 in the adults 18-49 demographic or 6.76 million in total viewership.<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to confirming the series low outing, final broadcast data reveals that NBC’s hourlong “The Voice” results show dominated the “Idol” Top 8 performance\/results hybrid.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The Voice” drew a 2.2 rating with 9.64 million viewers in its timeslot. Weak by usual “The Voice” standards, the numbers look spectacular in comparison to the 1.3 rating and ~6.0 million viewership average “Idol” posted in the competitive 8-9PM hour.<\/em><\/p>\n

CBS’ “Survivor” ultimately topped both music reality shows Wednesday night. It drew a 2.5 with 9.84 million viewers from 8-9PM.<\/em>

Earlier this season, a “The Voice” clip show tied an original edition of FOX’s “American Idol” in the adults 18-49 demographic.<\/p>\n

Is it at all surprising, therefore, that this Wednesday’s “The Voice” results show dominated the Top 8 “American Idol” performance\/results hybrid show?<\/p>\n

Per fast national data, NBC’s hourlong “The Voice” drew a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating with 9.54 million viewers. FOX’s “Idol” drew a paltry 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 5.99 million viewers in the competitive 8-9PM hour.<\/p>\n

The second hour of “Idol” aired without opposition from “The Voice,” and it naturally drew improved marks. That hour’s 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 7.06 million viewers were nonetheless poor by the standard of the show and down from the 1.8\/8.72 million drawn by the corresponding hour last week.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s “Idol,” which also featured performances from Jason Derulo, Florida Georgia Line and Iggy Azalea & Jennifer Hudson, ultimately averaged a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating with 6.52 million viewers in the fast nationals.
