Named the year’s Best Original Song and showcased in a powerful performance at Sunday’s 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony, Common & John Legend’s “Glory” is predictably zooming up the iTunes singles chart.<\/p>\n
As of press time, “Glory” was #8 on the all-genre iTunes sales chart. the song, which comes from Best Picture nominee “Selma,” was not even in the Top 100 prior to Sunday’s broadcast.<\/p>\n
The second-highest-charting Best Original Song nominee is Adam Levine’s “Lost Stars.” Cut from the deluxe “Begin Again” soundtrack, the song appears at #28 on the iTunes all-genre single sales chart. Versions from Maroon 5’s “V” and the standard “Begin Again” soundtrack register at #94 and #142, respectively.<\/p>\n
Glen Campbell’s “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” (from “Glen Campbell I’ll Be Me”) and Rita Ora’s “Grateful” (from “Beyond the Lights”) follow. “Miss You,” which was performed on Sunday’s show by Tim McGraw, is currently #42 on the chart (another version credited to Glen Campbell and The Wrecking Crew is #96). Ora’s tune follows at #57.<\/p>\n
Currently #113 on the chart, Tegan and Sara’s “Everything is AWESOME!!! (featuring The Lonely Island)” claims the lowest position among Best Original Song nominees.<\/p>\n
While that is certainly not a ringing endorsement of Sunday’s performance, it is worth noting that the recognizable “Lego Movie” song was certified Gold in December 2014.
