Inserting his own perspective into the conversation, Jon Stewart announced his impending “The Daily Show” departure during Tuesday’s edition of the Comedy Central show.<\/p>\n
“It has been an absolute privilege – the honor of my professional life,” declared Stewart. “And I thank you for watching it, for hate-watching it, whatever reason you were tuning in for. You get in this business with the idea that maybe you have a point of view and something to express.<\/p>\n
And to receive feedback from that is the greatest feeling you could ask for. And I thank you.”<\/p>\n
Stewart, who noted that he neither has a concrete plan for when he will depart nor for what he will do upon leaving “The Daily Show,” also thanked the team behind Comedy Central’s Emmy-winning series.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think I’m going to miss being on television every day, but I’m going to miss coming here every day,” remarked Stewart.<\/p>\n
Earlier Tuesday, announced that the “comic genius” will “remain at the helm of The Daily Show until later this year.”<\/p>\n
“His comedic brilliance is second to none…and [he] will always be part of the Comedy Central family,” added the network.<\/p>\n
