While there are no rules about when a show can catch fire, there is virtually no chance MTV’s “Eye Candy” will ever transform into a blockbuster hit. After four weeks of low ratings, the Victoria Justice vehicle has made clear its inability to resonate with the masses.<\/p>\n
The question now becomes whether it can continue to exist with its core fans — and perhaps add some new ones along the way. Optimism about that possibility came in conjunction with last week’s ratings report; the fourth “Eye Candy” episode posted a series high in adults 18-49 and week-over-week improvement in total viewers.<\/p>\n
Both numbers were far too low to make a second season seem assured, but they contained the faint promise of future improvement.<\/p>\n
A degree of that promise extended into this week.<\/p>\n
Monday’s “Eye Candy” drew a slightly improved viewership average of 619,000 (+15,000).
