Though little on The CW has been popping in the ratings department, “Melrose Place” has been a particularly poor performer. In just its third week on the air, the heavily-hyped remake dipped to a low 1.0 household rating (0.8 in adults 18-49) with just 1.5 million total viewers.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, The CW is showing no indication that “Melrose” is anywhere near endangered. After confirming that Heather Locklear will reprise her role later this fall, The CW followed by ordering six additional scripts of the freshman series.<\/p>\n

A script order, especially for six episodes, is certainly no full season pickup, but it does indicate that the network is still supporting the new series (especially in terms of creative direction). According to Variety, CW executives are still hopeful that the show, with help from Locklear, can make a ratings turnaround.<\/p>\n

— Meanwhile, The CW picked up “One Tree Hill” for its full seventh season and also granted a nine episode script order to “The Vampire Diaries.” Freshman series “Diaries” opened two weeks ago with the highest CW premiere audience to date; ratings dipped for the second episode, though the numbers were still superior to those of most other shows on the network.<\/p>\n
