Creator Joss Whedon is not involved with the project that is in very preliminary stages&#8211;it is not even setup at a studio yet.<\/p>\n<p>The remake would reportedly have neither a character nor plot connection to the popular television extension, which ran until 2003.  It essentially will operate outside the preexisting &#8220;Buffy&#8221; bubble, reintroducing the lead character and concept in a &#8220;darker, event-sized movie.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this,&#8221; said Kuzui.<\/p>\n<p>The title character was played by Kristy Swanson in the original film and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the television series.
