Immediately added by some of the nation’s top pop stations, viewed tens of millions of times on YouTube and showcased prominently on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kiesza’s “Hideaway” had all the makings of a phenomenon.<\/p>\n
Then, suddenly, it did not.<\/p>\n
The song hit a brick wall inside pop radio’s Top 20 and quickly faded away from the public eye. The song many believed signaled Kiesza’s emergence as a breakthrough mainstream artist will ultimately be remembered as nothing more than a minor hit.<\/p>\n
With “Hideaway” out of the limelight and nothing else generating buzz in the US mainstream, Kiesza’s debut album “Sound of a Woman” predictably performed poorly in its first week of release.<\/p>\n
According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album debuts at #42 on the Billboard 200 thanks to sales of only 6,766.
