8PM drama “The Vampire Diaries,” meanwhile, fell short of last week’s performance with a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 1.66 million viewers.<\/p>\n

Update: <\/strong>While a correction in the finals remains possible, Thursday’s fast national ratings paint a slightly favorable week-over-week picture of The CW’s “Reign” and a slightly unfavorable one of “The Vampire Diaries.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Airing at 9PM, “Reign” drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating.\u00a0 Even with last week’s fast national number, it is up from the 0.4 listed in the finals.<\/em><\/p>\n

Viewership clocked in at 1.35 million.<\/em><\/p>\n

8PM flagship “TVD” drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.\u00a0 It trails the 0.9 delivered by last week’s installment.

Thursday’s episode drew an average of 1.66 million viewers.<\/em><\/p>\n

The reality that the overnight ratings do not perfectly signal performance in the adults 18-49 and total viewership columns has been made particularly clear in the case of The CW this season.<\/p>\n

But the first wave of numbers does provide a rough indication of how the night’s series performed. And in the case of The CW’s Thursday dramas “Reign” and “The Vampire Diaries,” that rough indication is one of steadiness.<\/p>\n

Like last week, 9PM drama “Reign” drew a 0.9 overnight household rating. Like last week, “TVD” drew a 1.5 overnight household rating.<\/p>\n
