The subject of endless coverage from the music media this summer, Maddie and Tae’s debut single “Girl in a Country Song” has recently been supplanted in the press by coverage of new albums from “bro country” acts like Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line.<\/p>\n
That should not, however, serve to suggest that “Girl in a Country Song” is fading away from the overall country music world.<\/p>\n
Still a force at country radio, the comedic jab at “bro country” is currently #12 on both the Mediabase and Billboard country airplay charts. And while there is currently some congestion at the top of the chart, the song is still poised to hop into the top ten in the near future.<\/p>\n
While it has not yet broken out as a sales juggernaut, it remains an attractive option for iTunes buyers. As of press time, it was #50 on the all-genre single sales chart and #7 on the country singles chart. To date, “Girl” has been purchased nearly 300,000 times.<\/p>\n
From an all-encompassing standpoint, “Girl in a Country Song” is currently at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #11 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The former number is not a peak for the song (which has gone as high as #62), but the latter is.<\/p>\n
