Update:<\/b> Still an unquestionably weak performer that ranked fourth in its timeslot, episode two of FOX’s “Mulaney” nonetheless enjoyed a slight uptick in the adults 18-49 demographic.<\/em><\/p>\n

Airing out of a “Family Guy” re-run (1.7 adults 18-49 rating, 3.42 million viewers), “Mulaney” posted an improved 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. Its viewership total, however, slipped to a mere 2.19 million.<\/p>\n

FOX’s other Sunday programming, all of which benefited from airing after the Seahawks-Cowboys football game, included “The Simpsons” (3.3, 7.343million) and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2.2, 4.51 million).

On the one hand, FOX’s Sunday lineup was boosted by high-profile NFL action between the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. On the other hand, FOX slotted the second “Mulaney” episode after a “Family Guy” re-run.<\/p>\n

Unable to draw a respectable audience for its premiere, which aired out of a new<\/i> “Family Guy,” what chance did the new comedy have of drawing in this scenario?<\/p>\n

Consistent with that pessimistic chain of logic, Sunday’s episode drew a soft 1.5 overnight household rating. Down from the abysmal 1.7 posted by last week’s premiere, the week two number does not at all brighten the show’s grim outlook.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the night, FOX offered a new “The Simpsons” (4.7 overnight household rating), a new “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2.9) and a “Family Guy” encore (2.3).
