It might be the American Music Awards ceremony, but its list of nominees for the New Artist of the Year category has a decidedly international flair.<\/p>\n
Announced by Charli XCX and Jason DeRulo on Monday morning’s “Good Morning America,” the New Artist of the Year nominees include 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor.<\/p>\n
Of the acts nominated, only Trainor is an American-born performer.<\/p>\n
Azalea’s “Fancy” enjoyed seven weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 this summer; Trainor’s “All About That Bass” is enjoying its fifth week atop that chart.<\/p>\n
