Somehow unaware of the fact that many high-profile artists–including Taylor Swift herself–release promotional, “instant gratification” tracks in advance of their album releases, numerous media outlets assumed that “Out of the Woods,” which Swift will launch next week, is the second official single from new album “1989.”<\/p>\n
Those outlets were wrong–or at least premature in their declaration.<\/p>\n
In a Twitter post Thursday, Swift clarified that the upcoming release is not presentlly slated as the official follow-up to smash single “Shake it Off.”<\/p>\n
“To clarify, what is coming in the next few days is a new song that I think best represents #1989. It is NOT my next single. #ShakeItOff,” wrote Swift.<\/p>\n
Earlier Thursday morning, Swift teased the impending release by posting an Instagram photo featuring the number 5 (as in, 5 days until release) and the word “Woods.”<\/p>\n
