Prior to its release this week, industry insiders were forecasting an opening week sales tally of 350-450,000 for Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt.”<\/p>\n
That projection will not pan out.<\/p>\n
Based on sobering–but still impressive–opening day sales data, Hits Daily Double is now eyeing a debut week total of 290-310,000. While that total will give Aldean’s album a dominant #1 finish on next week’s Billboard 200, it adds to the wave of disillusionment that has affected the music market in 2014.<\/p>\n
Hozier’s “Hozier” will debut as the week’s next-best-selling newcomer. Its sales total will likely fall in the 50-55,000 range.<\/p>\n
