Riding what is still the format’s largest seven day spin gain, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” advances to #2 on the latest edition of Mediabase’s rolling pop radio airplay chart.<\/p>\n
Swift’s “Shake” earns the distinction on the strength of 14,884 recorded spins between September 17 and 23. Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap,” which previously held the #2 slot, slips to #3 with 14,507 weekly plays.<\/p>\n
The Charli XCX song, however, claimed a slightly larger audience. “Boom Clap” earned 96.39 million audience impressions during the aforementioned seven day period, while “Shake it Off” net a total of 95.52 million.<\/p>\n
“Shake it Off” now has its eyes on the #1 spot. As of press time, Meghan Trainor’s reigning champ “All About That Bass” held the lead by a comfortable margin of 1,959 weekly spins. Still rising (albeit less aggressively than “Shake it Off”), “Bass” is in no danger of losing the #1 position this week.<\/p>\n
— Other top five songs include Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” (#4) and Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (#5). If it maintains its more significant rate of growth, “Black Widow” will leapfrog “Break Free” by the end of the week.<\/p>\n
