Signposted by its delayed ascent into the top five on iTunes’ album sales chart, Meghan Trainor’s “Title” EP far exceeded sales expectations in its first week of availability.<\/p>\n

Initially eyed by Hits Daily Double for a bow in the 9-11,000 range, the four-song EP ended up posting an opening week sales mark of roughly double.<\/p>\n

According to data from Billboard\/Nielsen, “Title” drove roughly 19,366 buyers to part with their money last week.<\/p>\n

Because last week saw a whopping ten buzzworthy full-length<\/i> albums enter a marketplace already populated by releases like Maroon 5’s “V,” Jeezy’s “Seen it All,” the “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack, the “Frozen” soundtrack and Ariana Grande’s “My Everything,” the ~20K sales total will not be enough to score Trainor a top ten spot on the Billboard 200 Album Sales chart this week.<\/p>\n

It does, however, represent a welcome subversion of the conservative early expectations. It therefore succeeds in providing another dose of good news for an artist whose breakthrough single has already provided her with a laundry list of distinctions.<\/p>\n
