AMC is under no illusion that drama “Halt and Catch Fire” emerged as a hit during its first season.<\/p>\n
In a press release issued Wednesday, it outright explains that the series developed “a committed core audience and notable critical acclaim” rather than a large following.<\/p>\n
Despite the clear subtext of that comment, the same press release nonetheless notes that “Halt” has been renewed for a second season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a show about invention, experimentation, and the inherent risks in trying to break new ground \u2013 themes that really resonate with us as a network and attracted a passionate audience,\u201d says AMC’s Charlie Collier. \u201cWe have a history of demonstrating patience through the early seasons of new shows, betting on talent and building audience over time. We see that opportunity here and look forward to a second season of \u2018Halt and Catch Fire\u2019 from creators Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers, and showrunner Jonathan Lisco.\u201d<\/p>\n
AMC notes that the show’s episodes averaged just 1.3 million on a live+7 basis. 606,000 of those viewers fell into the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.<\/p>\n
