Not wasting any time, Taylor Swift introduced her new single within the first five minutes of her hotly anticipated Yahoo! Live Stream.<\/p>\n
That song, as a week’s worth of rumors suggested, is “Shake it Off.”<\/p>\n
“This is a song that I did with Max Martin and Shellback,” said Swift of the new release. “We decided to get back together–to work together–and basically, we went in the studio and decided, it was our number one priority to make something that sounded like nothing [they] had done and like nothing I had done.”<\/p>\n
The answer? An empowerment song advising listeners to shake off the relentless talk, rumors and criticism they will inevitably encounter.<\/p>\n
“I’ve had to learn a pretty tough lesson in the past couple of years – people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to it. We have two options – you can either let it get to you, let it change you, make you bitter.<\/p>\n
“Or, you can shake it off.”<\/p>\n
An enthusiastic, energetic Taylor danced with audience members as she played the song for the live crowd–and for those viewing the stream.<\/p>\n
