Billboard has issued its officially weekly sales update, and its portrait of the upper reaches mirrors that presented Tuesday by Hits Daily Double.<\/p>\n
Weird Al Yankovic indeed scores his first Billboard 200 via “Mandatory Fun.” The parody musician’s latest release debuts atop the chart with sales of 104,000.<\/p>\n
That tally is Yankovic’s best of the SoundScan era (which began in 1991) and the best for a comedy album since “The Beavis and Butt-Head Experience” opened with a total of 118,000 in 1994.<\/p>\n
Jason Mraz’ “Yes!” settles for second place with 81,000 copies, which represents a decline of 21,000 from the opening week total for 2012’s “Love is a Four Letter Word.”<\/p>\n
Rise Against’s “The Black Market” claims #3 with 53,000, while “Kidz Bop 26” (46,000, #4) and the “Frozen” soundtrack (43,000, #5) complete the top five.<\/p>\n
