Leading out of an original installment of “Whose Line” (0.5 adults 18-49 rating, 1.52 million viewers), “Backpackers” scored a mere 0.2 rating with 0.66 million viewers at 8:30PM.<\/p>\n

“Seed,” meanwhile, delivered a 0.2 with 0.55 million viewers at 9:30PM. It received lead-in support from an encore of “Whose Line” (0.2, 0.77 million).<\/em>

Launching two low-profile Canadian comedies during the summer on a US network that does not routinely air traditional sitcom? What could possibly go wrong with that strategy?<\/p>\n

Monday’s premiere episodes of CW comedies “Backpackers” and “Seed” flopped in the ratings.<\/p>\n

The former, which originated as a Canadian web series, drew a paltry 0.5 overnight household rating at 8:30PM Monday. An abysmal rating by any standard, the number looks particularly weak in comparison to the 1.1 posted by an episode of “Whose Line is it Anyway.”<\/p>\n

“Seed,” which originated as a series on Canada’s City, drew an even weaker 0.4 household rating at 9:30PM.
