The big comedy winner at this year’s Golden Globes ceremony was largely omitted from contention at the annual Emmy Awards.<\/p>\n
The nominations, which were revealed Thursday, confirm that the Golden Globe winner for best comedy will not compete in the race for Outstanding Comedy Series. That honor will instead belong to “Louie,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Silicon Valley,” “Veep,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family.”<\/p>\n
Andy Samberg, the Globes winner for best actor in a comedy, will also be watching this year’s Emmys ceremony from a distance. Voters instead opted to see Louis CK (“Louie”), Don Cheadle (“House of Lies”), Ricky Gervais (“Derek”), Matt LeBlanc (“Episodes”), William H. Macy (“Shameless”) and Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”) compete for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.<\/p>\n
The show was not completely shut out, however. Supporting actor Andre Braugher earned a spot in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series race. He will contend with Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”), Fred Armisen (“Portlandia”), Adam Driver (“Girls”), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”) and Tony Hale (“Veep”).<\/p>\n
