Update:<\/b> Because Ariana Grande’s “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” enjoyed an unexpected airplay gain<\/i> in the seven day period ending July 9, Nico and Vinz’ “Am I Wrong” now seems unlikely to claim the #1 spot by Friday. It will, however, reach the airplay chart’s apex within the next few days.<\/em>

Songs from two of the year’s breakthrough acts continue to make waves at pop radio.<\/p>\n

According to Mediabase’s latest rolling airplay chart, which measures spins for the seven days ending July 8, Nico and Vinz’ “Am I Wrong” and MAGIC!’s “Rude” are the format’s #2 and #3 songs, respectively.<\/p>\n

“Am I Wrong,” which has built some breathing room in the #2 position over the past several days, is now on the cusp of reaching #1. Separated from current leader Ariana “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” by only 234 weekly spins, the Nico and Vinz tune should be able to close the gap–and ascend to the top spot–by Friday.<\/p>\n

How long it will be able maintain that number one spot is presently unclear, but when it does relinquish its throne, it will very likely do so to MAGIC!’s “Rude.” The song, which rises to #3 on the latest rolling chart, is still the format’s fastest airplay gainer (+2147 spins week-to-week, compared to the 1192 gain enjoyed by “Am I Wrong”) and on a seemingly clear path to the top.<\/p>\n

In addition to a likely rise to #1 on the Mediabase pop airplay chart, “Rude” also stands a chance of becoming the next #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently #2 on that chart, it continues to close the gap between itself and Iggy Azalea’s chart-leading “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX).”<\/p>\n

Other big movers in the top ten include Disclosure’s #6 “Latch (featuring Sam Smith),” which is up 782 spins over the past seven days, and Sam Smith’s #7″ Stay With Me,” which is up 1159. Maroon 5’s “Maps,” which recently made its top ten debut, is up 874.<\/p>\n
