According to revised estimates from Hits Daily Double, Carey’s “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” is now on track for an opening week sales total of 60-65,000. While the album is still expected to rank as the week’s strongest debut, it will likely fall short in its effort to claim #1 on the Billboard 200 overall album sales chart. Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories,” as of press time, is expected to repeat at #1.<\/p>\n

The forecast for Austin Mahone’s new “The Secret” was reduced to 45-50,000. Cher Lloyd’s “Sorry I’m Late” is expected to move 18-20,000 first week copies.<\/em>

Thus far, Mariah Carey’s “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” has been eluding record buyers.<\/p>\n

According to Hits Daily Double, the diva’s latest release is tracking for an opening week total of just 65-70,000.<\/p>\n

While the impact of Memorial Day might be stunting early purchasing, which would in turn produce an unfairly pessimistic forecast, it is clear the album is not pacing to be a blockbuster.<\/p>\n

“Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” the album’s 2009 predecessor, opened to a considerably stronger sum of 168,000. And insofar as that tally was down significantly from the 463,000 moved by 2008’s “E=MC2,” it was hardly considered a rousing success.<\/p>\n

Despite the soft forecast, Carey’s album will likely reign as the week’s top newcomer.
