While the Bing prediction algorithm wavered in its selection for the second place finisher, it spent the entirety of Tuesday clear about one fact: Christina Grimmie was going to win season six of NBC’s “The Voice.”<\/p>\n
It was wrong.<\/p>\n
After a two hour finale, host Carson Daly announced Tuesday that Team Usher’s Josh Kaufman, whose “Set Fire to the Rain” was at the center of a controversial iTunes glitch, was the winner.<\/p>\n
Grimmie, in fact, did not even place second. That honor instead went to Team Blake’s Jake Worthington.<\/p>\n
In finishing third, Team Adam’s female not only proved that last week’s result–in which she landed in the bottom three–was not a fluke but that having a monstrous social network does not render one invincible on the show. With 582,000 followers, her Twitter reach is 7.8 times larger than that of Worthington and 11.1 times that of Kaufman.<\/p>\n
Prior to announcing the result, Daly confirmed that as a result of the iTunes glitch, none of the night’s iTunes votes were included in the calculation. While those votes decisively favored Grimmie and Worthington, NBC assured viewers that removing them from the mix had no impact on the final outcome.<\/p>\n
The win marked the first win for coach Usher.
