Unwilling to remain silent on a widely publicized iTunes glitch, NBC’s “The Voice” confirmed that it did not include any<\/i> of the weekly iTunes votes in its final calculation.<\/p>\n
While the contestants’ cumulative iTunes votes remain in play, none of the sales they received between 10PM ET Monday night at 12PM ET Tuesday will have an impact on the outcome.<\/p>\n
According to host Carson Daly, auditors say removing the weekly iTunes vote did not change the final result.<\/p>\n
Removing that count, meanwhile, assures that Josh Kaufman, whose “Set Fire to the Rain” was not displaying properly in iTunes this week, was not subject to an unfair disadvantage.<\/p>\n
It does, however, also mean that Jake Worthington and Christina Grimmie, who landed in the top ten with two eligible songs and one eligible song, respectively, will not receive a boost from those strong iTunes showings.<\/p>\n
That NBC and its auditors insist the decision has no impact on the outcome, however, should quell many concerns about that potential collateral damage.<\/p>\n
