Asking radio programmers to “swap, don’t drop,” Republic is pushing Lorde’s “Tennis Court” as an immediate replacement for “Glory and Gore” at alternative radio.<\/p>\n
Released as a shotgun third single once following its inclusion in the Winter Olympics and a high-profile “Vikings” television campaign, “Glory and Gore” lost its momentum soon after impacting alternative radio.<\/p>\n
Aware of that surprisingly stunted growth, Republic decided to push “Tennis Court”–rather than “Glory and Gore”–as the singer-songwriter’s new single at pop.<\/p>\n
And once that happened, alternative radio stations also began getting on board with “Tennis Court.” That shift in attention brought “Glory and Gore'”s already slow growth to a near standstill, and rendered it unlikely that the song would go much higher than its current #15 position.<\/p>\n
Accepting that reality, and citing “overwhelming demand from Alternative Program Directors,” Republic this week opted to make “Tennis Court” Lorde’s official alternative radio single.<\/p>\n
