Vocal critics and online commentators got their wish: ABC’s flagship drama “Scandal” is moving to 9PM.<\/p>\n
After emerging as ABC’s top-rated drama in its Thursday at 10PM slot, “Scandal” will shift to the earlier hour beginning this fall.<\/p>\n
There it will serve as the middle component of a Thursday lineup populated exclusive by Shonda Rhimes programming. The executive producer’s veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” moves up to the 8PM hour, while her new “How to Get Away with Murder” enters the fray at 10PM.<\/p>\n
While the move will put “Scandal” against NBC’s similarly targeted “The Blacklist” this spring, it will also help ABC provide a full night of counterprogramming for CBS’ fall Thursday Night Football broadcasts.<\/p>\n
Other scheduling moves include shifting “Agents of SHIELD” back to the 9PM hour and sending “The Goldbergs” to the Wednesday at 8:30PM slot. It will retain this past season’s Sunday and Monday night lineups.<\/p>\n
