ABC has officially renewed “Last Man Standing.”<\/p>\n
Always a renewal target for the network, the comedy nonetheless remained in limbo while the network negotiated finances with studio 20th Century Fox TV.<\/p>\n
According to a Deadline report, ABC wanted to reduce its licensing fee for the series. 20th Century Fox, after already agreeing to a reduction last year, opposed such a move. It had leverage for its case in the form of new comedies “Cristela” and “Fresh off the Boat,” which were both on the network’s pickup radar.<\/p>\n
Specifics of the deal are unclear, but as of Saturday, all three will be on ABC’s schedule next year. “LMS” returns for a fourth season, while the new comedies, detailed below, debut at the alphabet network.<\/p>\n
Cristela: In her sixth year of law school, Cristela (Cristela Alonzo) is finally on the brink of landing her first big (unpaid) internship at a prestigious law firm. The only problem is that her pursuit of success is more ambitious than her traditional Mexican-American family thinks is appropriate.
