<\/a>Consistent with the most optimistic projections, new singles from Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z performed well on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart but ultimately fell short of the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling.”<\/p>\n
Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” debuted at number two thanks to a dominant run on the iTunes singles sales chart. Since hitting number one in the wake of Cyrus’ much-discussed performance on last week’s Teen Choice Awards telecast, the song has remained the download store’s best-selling single. “Party in the U.S.A.” tops Cyrus’ previous best-performer “The Climb,” which debuted at number six and ultimately peaked at four.<\/p>\n
A solid iTunes seller itself, “Run This Town (featuring Rihanna and Kanye West),” the latest from Jay-Z, moved up to number three on this week’s Hot 100. Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” slid back to fourth, while Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” spent another week in fifth.<\/p>\n
In its eighth week atop the Hot 100, “I Gotta Feeling” gives the Black Eyed Peas a record twenty weeks of single dominance. Their previous chart-topper “Boom Boom Pow” reigned for twelve weeks.<\/p>\n
After “Party in the U.S.A.,” other big debuts included Disney’s Friends for Change’s “Send it On” (20), Jason DeRulo’s “Whatcha Say” (54) and Cobra Starship’s “Hot Mess” (64).<\/p>\n
Other formats: Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” spent another week on top of Country, Linkin Park’s “New Divide” stayed dominant on Rock and Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” led Hip-Hop\/R&B.<\/p>\n
