The film’s $35.5 million opening day take barely edges the $35.0 million earned by the film’s predecessor, and that mark came on a Tuesday<\/i>. The first “The Amazing Spider-Man” debuted on July 3, 2012.<\/p>\n
The tally also narrowly trails the $36.9 million opening night haul for “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” which opened earlier this spring.<\/p>\n
Of course, it is hard to look solely at the negative when the margin of victory is so significant. “The Other Woman,” the film’s nearest competitor at the box office, earned just $4.8 million.<\/p>\n
