AMC’s “Mad Men” will evidently not be going out with a bang.<\/p>\n
Sunday’s episode, which launched the first half of the show’s final season, garnered a mere 2.3 million viewers.<\/p>\n
Down by 32% from that of last year’s opener (which was down slightly from that of its own predecessor), the total represents the weakest viewership for a season premiere since the second season’s launch garnered 2.06 million viewers in July 2008.<\/p>\n
According to AMC, 1.0 million of the premiere’s viewers fell in the adults 18-49 demographic. That should translate to an underwhelming 0.8 rating in the demographic.<\/p>\n
Episode two of “Turn,” which led into the “Mad Men” opener, attracted 1.90 million viewers at 9PM.
