Update:<\/b> For the second night in a row, the overnight metered market ratings painted an inaccurately optimistic portrait of The CW’s ratings.<\/p>\n

Despite matching last week’s overnight household ratings, both “Reign” and “The Vampire Diaries” slipped in adults 18-49 and total viewers.<\/p>\n

The “Reign” drop, however, was far less significant. In posting a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.40 million viewers, “Reign” was down from last week but on par (at least in adults 18-49) with many of this season’s performances.<\/p>\n

“The Vampire Diaries,” on the other hand, greatly struggled. Thursday’s episode settled for a series low 0.8 with just 1.73 million viewers.<\/p>\n

Given that deflated lead-in, it is hard to condemn “Reign” for slipping a mere 0.1 this week.<\/em>
\n========<\/p>\n

Put a picture of Thursday’s The CW lineup next to the word “stability” in the dictionary. Overnight ratings for this week’s combination of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Reign” precisely match those posted last week.<\/p>\n

“Reign,” one of two freshman series already confirmed for a second season at The CW, matched last week’s 1.3 overnight household rating. The match might not be as precise in adults 18-49 and total viewership, but it appears certain the “Reign” empire did not notably shrink for this week’s “Monsters” episode.<\/p>\n

“The Vampire Diaries,” which opened The CW’s evening, matched last week’s 1.6 overnight rating. Last week’s episode went onto post a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 2.28 million viewers.<\/p>\n
