That viewers are departing FOX’s “Glee” on a weekly basis was not enough to prevent star Lea Michele from scoring a solid debut on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n
Michele’s debut album “Louder” kicks off its run at number four on the Billboard album sales chart. According to Nielsen Soundscan, it does so with an opening week sales tally of 60,000.<\/p>\n
The mark easily ranks as the best tally for a “Glee” alumnus’ solo release.<\/p>\n
It was not enough, however, to thrust Michele’s LP above three of the week’s other offerings.<\/p>\n
Rick Ross’ “Mastermind” claimed the weekly sales crown with 179,000. Though well ahead of mid-week projections, the 112,000 debut tally for Pharrell’s “G I R L” still led to an underwhelming second place finish. The “Frozen” soundtrack claimed third with 90,000.<\/p>\n
Eli Young Band’s “10,000 Towns” ranks a notch below Michele’s album to complete the top five.
