Update:<\/b> Thanks to an upward adjustment in the final Nielsen report, Thursdays “Scandal” ranks as the best-rated episode since the season premiere.<\/p>\n

The episode, the show’s first since its fall finale in December, drew a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating with 9.32 million viewers. The adults 18-49 rating was the best since the October 3 season opener; the viewership count was the best since the October 17 episode.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the night, ABC’s “Countdown to the Oscars” flopped with a 1.0 rating and 4.73 million viewers. “Grey’s Anatomy” followed with an impressive 3.1 rating and 9.42 million.

Update:<\/b> Thursday’s “Scandal” delivered a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating with 9.3 million viewers. If the demo number holds in the finals, it will represent “Scandal'”s best performance since the October 17 episode delivered the same 3.3. Season-to-date, only the premiere has delivered a stronger mark in adults 18-49.<\/p>\n

Earlier in ABC’s night, “Countdown to the Oscars” posted a weak 1.0 rating with 4.7 million viewers. “Grey’s Anatomy” followed with a 3.0 and 9.3 million.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nWhether it matches the fall finale’s impressive demo performance remains to be seen, but Thursday’s “Scandal” definitely delivered in the overnight ratings.<\/p>\n

Thursday’s midseason premiere, the first episode since December 12, delivered a strong 6.9 overnight household rating.<\/p>\n

The number, which gave ABC a convincing victory in the 10PM hour, ranks as the best “Scandal” overnight since October 17, 2013.<\/p>\n

“Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington,” that episode, posted the same 6.9.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the night, ABC’s Oscars countdown special delivered a modest 3.5. “Grey’s Anatomy” followed with a 7.0.<\/p>\n
