<\/a>— Bryan Singer has been tapped to direct a feature film version of “Battlestar Galactica,” says a report in Variety.<\/p>\n
Singer has a loose association with the franchise dating back to 2001. At the time, fresh off his directing gig on the first “X-Men” film, Singer flirted with the idea of relaunching the 1978-1980 series–he was originally slated to direct the pilot and executive produce with Tom DeSanto.<\/p>\n
The director’s affiliation with the project ultimately did not materialize, as he took on other projects. Ronald Moore executive produced the eventual Sci-Fi relaunch in 2004 (the show started as a miniseries in 2003), which ended its run this year.<\/p>\n
The capacity in which Moore will participate in the film is not clear, but Variety notes that it will be a “complete reimagination” under Singer’s direction and production.<\/p>\n
— Christopher McQuarrie, who had a loose, uncredited role in the original “X-Men” film, will pen the sequel to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” According to Variety’s report, the story, set in Japan, chronicles Logan’s evolution into a samurai.<\/p>\n
