It might be the highest-rated scripted series on network television, but its broadcast status for next fall recently entered a state of jeopardy.<\/p>\n
In response to news that CBS secured the rights to the NFL’s Thursday night package, the television industry wondered how the launch of “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS’ flagship Thursday series, would be affected.<\/p>\n
What the industry now knows for certain is that the effect will not take the form of a delay.<\/p>\n
According to CBS’ Les Moonves, the network will not wait until November–when CBS’ series of Thursday night football games concludes–to premiere its monster sitcom. It will, however, relocate the series to “some other night” for the first few weeks of the season.<\/p>\n
Moonves gave no further details about that “other night,” but most assume it will be Monday, the night on which the juggernaut series first began its run. The expectation is that CBS will use the first several season eight “Big Bang” episodes to launch one of its new 2014-15 comedy series.<\/p>\n
