Because several of the year’s most acclaimed films competed in the Comedy or Musical category, one would have a difficult time calling the Golden Globe for Best Film, Drama the night’s most important award.<\/p>\n
It is still a prestigious award, and it will spend the next year associated with film “12 Years a Slave.”<\/p>\n
The critically acclaimed drama beat out “Gravity,” “Philomena,” “Rush” and “Captain Phillips” for the trophy.<\/p>\n
It did not, however, claim any of the acting trophies. The Hollywood Foreign Press gave those to Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor – “Dallas Buyers Club”), Cate Blanchett (Best Actress – “Blue Jasmine”) and Jared Leto (Best Supporting Actor – “Dallas Buyers Club”). The Supporting Actress prize went to Jennifer Lawrence, whose “American Hustle” was classified as a comedy film.<\/p>\n
