Since releasing, Eminem’s “The Monster (featuring Rihanna)” seemed like the rightful heir to Lorde’s throne atop the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n
And had a YouTube movement not factored into the equation last week, “Monster” would have successfully claimed the number one position last week.<\/p>\n
That movement, stemming from a new parody of “Wrecking Ball,” gave the Miley Cyrus song a return ticket to the top of the charts. But with the luster worn off, “Wrecking Ball” slides this week to make way for “The Monster” to hit number one.<\/p>\n
Also the number one song at radio and on-demand, “The Monster” improves to second on the Streaming Songs chart and retains its number two rank for digital sales.<\/p>\n
By departing the number two position, Eminem’s song makes way for Pitbull’s “Timber (featuring Ke$ha)” to advance to that slot. OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” follows at third, besting Lorde’s “Royals” (#4) and Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” (#5).<\/p>\n
