With staying power that mirrors Capital Cities’ crossover smash “Safe and Sound,” The Neighbourhood’s alternative hit “Sweater Weather” is flirting with the upper echelon of the overall charts.<\/p>\n

A favorite with alternative fans for much of the year, the track, cut from the band’s “I Love You,” spent an impressive eleven weeks atop the Billboard Alternative Songs chart this summer.<\/p>\n

Its long journey has now ventured firmly into the Top 40.<\/p>\n

The song, which reached a peak of 29 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, is making an even bigger splash on iTunes. Its lengthy climb, which is showing no signs of an urgent slowdown, has officially thrust it into the overall Top 15.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the chart’s presence on the iTunes front page, an ascent into the Top 10 produces a chicken-and-the-egg approach. It takes significant momentum to reach that stratum, but once a song does, it instantly gains massive awareness and credibility.<\/p>\n
