But gushy lines aside, no matter how accurate for the music community, there will also be a sales winner on next week’s Billboard 200 album sales chart. More specifically, Drake’s new “Nothing Was the Same” will reign atop the heap to give the “Degrassi” alum his third number one.<\/p>\n
That album, unsurprisingly, immediately shot to the top of iTunes’ Album Sales Chart after the leading music retailer cleared its release Tuesday. Odds are strong that it will hold onto that position all week.<\/p>\n
Given the unique targets of the week’s other new albums, it will nonetheless be interesting to see how they fare on iTunes–and how that digital performance forecasts overall ranking on the Billboard album sales chart.<\/p>\n
Thus far, Kings of Leon’s comeback album “Mechanical Bull” possesses the Apple e-tailer’s number two position, leading Cher’s “Closer to the Truth” and Krewella’s studio debut “Get Wet.”<\/p>\n
Last week’s Jack Johnson and Avicii releases claim the fifth and sixth position over R5’s new “Louder” and holdovers from Dream Theater and Elton John.<\/p>\n
Icona Pop’s anticipated “This Is…Icona Pop” is presently in tenth on iTunes, while CHVRCHES’ buzzworthy “The Bones of What You Believe” has reached eleventh.<\/p>\n
In nineteenth and twentieth, respectively, Gungor’s “I Am Mountain” and the Glee Cast’s “Glee Sings the Beatles” are the other new releases in the top ten.<\/p>\n
Because several of the aforementioned acts will garner most of their purchases via digital stores–and in a front-loaded manner–one should not conclude that anything, save for the obvious Drake release, is going to be a major hit on next week’s chart.
