In trying to determine what Taylor Swift said during a buzzworthy moment at the MTV Video Music Awards, who better to ask than Selena Gomez, who was sitting next to the country-pop superstar?<\/p>\n
Well, in theory that is. While Gomez might know what Swift actually said, she is not sharing.<\/p>\n
According to the Associated Press, Gomez dismissed a reporter’s attempt to ask about the controversy at the Monday premiere of her new film “Getaway.”<\/p>\n
“Don’t try that with me,” said Gomez.<\/p>\n
During Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards telecast, Swift was filmed potentially cursing as the members of One Direction, including her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, presented an award for Best Pop Video.<\/p>\n
No audio was provided, but the clip seemed to catch Swift, who was seated next to Gomez, mouthing “shut the f*ck up” in response to the boy band’s extended statement of gratitude to the Barclays Center fans.<\/p>\n
Swift supporters fired back at the claims, instead posing that Swift, who removed her arm from Gomez’ shoulder as she made the comment, was saying “sorry for the arm.”<\/p>\n
Gomez, whose eyes remained focused on the stage as Swift made the comment, ended up winning the award for her “Come & Get It” video.<\/p>\n
“So I am watching the beautiful boys, One Direction who are not bad to look at, then they said my name,” reflects Gomez on the experience of winning. “I looked at Taylor … it was surreal. Because I do put so much work into my music. There’s so much talk of everything. But I did put my heart and soul into it so I was really excited. It was great.”<\/p>\n
