ABC’s veteran medical soap “Grey’s Anatomy” has no definite end in sight, but assuming it does continue past 2014, it will do so without longtime regular Sandra Oh.<\/p>\n
Oh, who has earned a Golden Globe and numerous Emmy nominations for her work on the show, announced her planned exit in a statement Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on GA and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her,\u201d said the actress. \u201cIt was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda and the writers. It\u2019s so rare in an actor\u2019s life to be able to explore and grow a character so fully, so completely. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at GA for the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
With Oh’s departure now confirmed for the end of the upcoming tenth season, regulars like Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, whose contracts come to an end this season, will presumably have additional bargaining leverage.<\/p>\n
