Emmy voters carried no rebellion towards the burgeoning Netflix model, recognizing its highest-profile drama launch “House of Cards” with some key nominations.<\/p>\n
In addition to slotting “House of Cards” against “Game of Thrones,” “Breaking Bad,” “Downton Abbey,” “Homeland” and “Mad Men” in the Outstanding TV Drama race, the nominating body also inserted stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright into the lead actor and actress mixes, respectively.<\/p>\n
Surprising, however, is the fact that supporting actor Corey Stoll, whom most critics agreed was the standout performer throughout the show’s inaugural season, goes without a nomination.\u00a0 Stoll could not crack an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama race that instead opted for Bobby Cannavale (“Boardwalk Empire”), Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad”), Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”), Jim Carter (“Downton Abbey”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”) and Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”).<\/p>\n
Of course, one notable snub is better than three.\u00a0 This year’s Emmys, surprisingly, will not pay much respect to FX’s universally-acclaimed drama “The Americans,” which missed out in the Outstanding Drama, Lead Actor (Matthew Rhys), Lead Actress (Keri Russell) and Supporting Actor (Noah Emmerich) races.<\/p>\n
