Though some recurring and guest cast members have commented, the central “Glee” cast has been largely–and understandably–silent on the matter of Cory Monteith.<\/p>\n
Monteith, who was found dead Saturday afternoon in a Vancouver Hotel Room, was a central cast member since the show premiered in May 2009. Romantically-linked to co-star Lea Michele and friendly with much of the close-knit cast, his passing brought significant emotional ramifications for those who called “Glee” home.<\/p>\n
It also sparked an outpouring of support from the always-vocal, always-passionate “Gleek” fanbase. Through moments of silence, balloon launches and Twitter trending topics, the “Glee” diehards remain committed to showing Monteith’s colleagues, friends and family their support.<\/p>\n
Former “Glee” regular Mark Salling, who played Monteith’s character’s best friend on the show, Tweeted “No” as the news was first breaking. He later deleted that Tweet and instead offered, “going through a million memories and emotions today. ill love you always Brother Cory.”<\/p>\n
As far as public statements go, Monteith’s devastated girlfriend and co-star Michele asked for privacy via a representative, while Naya Rivera, who plays Santana on the show, issued one to various media outlets.<\/p>\n
“Cory was and always will be a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed. My heart goes out to Cory\u2019s family and Lea and while we are grateful for everyone’s well wishes, privacy during this time of grief is greatly appreciated,” said Rivera.<\/p>\n
