Word came Friday that Scott Foley, who recurred as Jake Ballard on season two of “Scandal,” will return as a regular in season three.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,\u201d said Foley in a statement. \u201cShonda and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.\u201d<\/p>\n
A key part of the show during its late-season ratings (and acclaim) explosion, Ballard’s return to the mix seemed a no-brainer. But given the cliffhanger in last month’s finale–Ballard, who betrayed a directive from his B-613 leadership, found himself trapped in the hole once occupied by Huck–there remained doubt that Scott Foley’s character would be seen again, let alone on a regular basis in season three.<\/p>\n
