Though some criticized Miguel and Billboard for what appeared to be a flippant reaction to an incident at last month’s Billboard Music Awards (“rockandrollmademedoit”), in which the singer attempted to leap across a crowd and inadvertently leg-dropped a woman on the landing, the situation appeared largely put to bed.<\/p>\n
Khyati Shah, the victim of the leg-drop (which approximated WWE star Zack Ryder’s “Rough Ryder”), appeared okay in a backstage video with the artist, and the controversy was largely forgotten.<\/p>\n
Until Tuesday, at least, when a TMZ report said the girl was potentially suffering brain damage and thus contemplating a lawsuit.<\/p>\n
A second report Wednesday alleged that the show’s producers warned Miguel that the intended jump, which involved Miguel jumping from one stage platform to another across a sea of people, was too dangerous for the show. By going through with the ill-advised stunt, it therefore seemed that Miguel was ignoring the supposed warning.<\/p>\n
A rep for the “Adorn” singer, however, disputes that claim, telling Entertainment Weekly, “The reports claiming that Miguel was warned by producers not to jump are completely false.”<\/p>\n
The statement added that “multiple attempts” were made to connect with Khyati and her lawyer “to see how she was doing and whether any assistance could be offered.”<\/p>\n
“Khyati\u2019s well-being has been and continues to be of the utmost concern to Miguel,” added the statement.<\/p>\n
